Professional, Standardized Assessment of School Readiness

Would you like to know if your child is ready for elementary school? What needs to be boosted? Or exactly how gifted he or she is? Now you can know.

K-SEALS, the Kaufman Survey of Early Academic and Language Skills, is a test for 3 to 6 year olds. It will show you where your child stands compared to other children across the nation of the same age.

It surveys skill development in these areas: Vocabulary, Number Letters & Words, Articulation, Expressive Language Skills, and Receptive Language Skills.

The K-Seals is given individually, which allows for much better assessment. The face to face assessment takes about an hour, depending upon the child. After scoring, the score is explained and you are given a record.

Unlike reports given out by psychologists which seems like Greek to most parents, we go over the findings and make sure of clarity. (So time investment on parents’ part is about an hour, a week of waiting for scoring, and about an hour for results.)

Like any assessment, the record should stand as guidance to parents/educators of how and what to teach. Homeschoolers will use the record as they choose curricula and courses of study. Others will use the record to choose a school and provide enrichment.

Mastermind for Homeschooling Moms / Parents

Heart-breaking questions. I see so many new to homeschooling who are absolutely lost. Increasingly the answers on Facebook are … not so great, as more experienced home educators are rolling off Facebook or have already finished homeschooling. Understanding is so lacking that it is nigh impossible to answer in 100 or so characters. But, after a lifetime of…. I can certainly provide answers, options, and resources.

How about a group? Content like a class. Q&A like a group coaching. It is a Homeschool MasterMind group! Would you like local, face to face, with refreshments in Lubbock? Or would you like online?

I’m thinking 8 weeks, rotating topics, 2 hours max. I have Sunday, Tuesday or Wednesday evenings only (that I can sacrifice.) Or we could do some naptime. I think I can go as low as $297, at least for this beta version. We will need about 10 to make a great group.

Any takers now? Email info@orgstrat.net

PS. Individual coaching for 6 months is $4999, just like for anyone else. (Coaching means one person and that person’s problems/challenges. Business consulting is for an organization, is a different process, and has a different fee structure, of course. For businesses: www.orgstrat.net)

Book available: Learn at Home for Great Shalom (and others either on wwwlulu.com or amazon.com).

Free audio content for more than 15 years: Great Shalom : Overcoming Learning Podcast on www.greatshalom.org or wherever you get podcasts. So, should prove up my ability. Choose your level, remembering level of investments is level of reward.

PPS. Imagine what life will be like in 6 months to a year if you do nothing. Then, imagine what life could be like, if you had an experienced guide showing you the way, dramatically shortening your information gathering, and helping you thru blind spots.

Imagine how much fun it would be to be in a group, making friends, other people with similar challenges.

Micro-School

Do you need a small, gentle, social, school setting for your 2nd thru 6th grader? Maybe some individualized placement? With no labeling? Fun? Love learning? Character building? Contact me info NOSPAM@orgstrat.net

I will also take students learning to read at 8:00am to 9:00am. If there are enough students who want to stay for the day, so that we can afford to hire staff, we will start also a K/First class.

We hope to open in Cedar Park, TX, and in Lubbock, TX. But let me know wherever you are, if you are interested. We aim to help.

What is a Micro-School?

A micro-school is NOT like the one-room schoolhouse you saw on Little House on the Prairie. That is a school, old-fashioned style, with a textbook for each grade, with each child progressing lock-step. Each child is in a grade, and works with that grade.

By contrast, first imagine a homeschooling mother with all her children at the dining room table. She has a easy to teach, Bible based, project rich, pedagogically sound curriculum in front of her. This year they are studying Rome. Everyone is learning together, but the 7 year old and the 11 year old have different homework. Next year we will all study the Medieval period. Everyone will study history in order; everyone will participate in the projects, and everyone progresses at their own pace. Language arts and even science is keyed to the History lesson. Math is individual, orderly, sensible, high level, but self paced.

Now expand that to a teacher, great with kids, who can likewise open that same curriculum, but she had a bigger table. Elementary children in the morning, and then the junior and senior high kids check in during the afternoon while the elementary students are working on their projects or playing on the playground. There is curricula for the one learning to read, which happens a few minutes everyday at home, or if full time care is needed, then, in another room.

What You Get

Notice, much higher quality education: more individual attention, more care, more engagement, and better curricula. Home like environment. Other children. Everyone works at his or her own level. Christian character.

Also Looking for Staff

If you want to work with us, especially if you have experience in early childhood education, please also contact me. We need people who are good with children, can follow directions, and have good judgement. If that is you, then contact me: info@ NO SPAM orgstrat.net
